I'm 18, do I compete as a junior or an FWQ adult?

As an 18-year-old, you are allowed to compete in the IFSA Junior Series until the day you turn 19. Alternatively, 18-year-olds may opt to enter the IFSA/FWQ adult series, where you can continue to participate in our amazing Freeride community, accrue points for your FWQ ranking, and possibly qualify for the adult Freeride World Tour.

Know that if you wish to compete at an adult event at the FWQ level, you cannot then go back and compete in the IFSA Junior Series. It’s up to you to decide if you’d like to compete as a junior or adult. Also note that the day you turn 19, you are no longer eligible to compete in the IFSA Junior Series.

Should you compete as an IFSA Junior in the 15-18 Age Category and receive an invitation to our NorAm Championship in April, if you turn 19 before that date, you will not be permitted to compete. If you qualify for an invitation to compete in the Freeride Junior World Championship (typically in January of the following winter) you cannot be over the age of 18 on event day. Nineteen-year-olds are not eligible for FJWC or NorAm Championship invitations.
