Why should I get a coach certification?

To assure that IFSA coaches are treating their position with the upmost respect and thoughtfulness, we developed the IFSA Coach certification program. The aim is to get coaches thinking about the role they play in their athletes' lives; to ensure that IFSA values of safety, longevity of sport, risk assessment and respect are passed down to the youth of our community. Informed coaches help our athletes make responsible, safe, and sustainable decisions on the venue and in life. The presence of coaches also makes our events safer and we are encouraged by the momentum and participation we've seen as our coach membership grows. 

Earning an IFSA Coach certification allows you to gain access to the venue to inspect with your athletes. Without the certification and an active IFSA Coach Membership, you will not be able to access the competition venue or enjoy ticketing benefits. It's also common to receive monetary benefits from your employer, so be sure to ask if you can be compensated for earning IFSA Coach certification.

We currently offer 2 certification levels. L100 encompasses an online course to teach fundamentals of safe Freeride, rules, inspection protocol, etc. L200 incorporates an online training program in addition to 2-days of on-snow training. The L200 course provides insight into IFSA Freeride judging, fundamentals of venue inspection, safety, team dynamics, effective communication, leadership, and more.
